Orbimob' Académie: What is it?
The Orbimob’ Académie project was selected within the France 2030 “Skills and professions of the future” scheme to develop a range of degree courses from Bac-3 to Bac+8, focusing on sustainable mobility. This ambitious project, backed by the UCA and steered by Clermont Auvergne INP, relies on a governance structure and ecosystem sponsored by higher education establishments, SMEs and major international groups, public players and international organizations committed to transforming our mobility.
Transforming Mobility: Why and How?
As a partner in the Orbimob’ Académie project, ESC Clermont Business School will be organizing the Académie’s first major interdisciplinary event to coincide with European Mobility Week and the start of the academic year.
On 20 and 21 September, 500 students from ESC Clermont BS and 100 students from the School of Architecture will take part in two days of conferences and educational games on the theme of “Transforming Our Mobility: Why and How? A round table open to the public will also be held at the Sigma Clermont, an INP engineering school.
To find out more about the aims of Orbimob’ Académie and the program for this first event, we put 5 questions to the event leader; Florence Puiseux :
“ORBIMOB’ ACADÉMIE” HAS BEEN SELECTED AS PART OF A CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST IN CONNECTION WITH THE FRANCE 2030 RECOVERY PLAN. CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT IT?
Presented in October 2021 by Emmanuel Macron, France 2030 aims to bring about lasting change in the key sectors of our economy through research, innovation, and industrial investment. The aim is to make France more competitive, close the industrial gap, invest massively in innovative technologies, and boost ecological transition.
Our Orbimob’ Académie project was selected as part of the “Skills and Professions of the Future” call for expressions of interest (AMI CMA), an umbrella scheme dedicated to training issues, and has received €7m in government funding.
One of the key conditions for the success of the France 2030 plan is to speed up the adaptation of training to develop skills required by new sectors and professions of the future.
WHAT IS ORBIMOB’ ACADÉMIE IN CONCRETE TERMS?
OrbiMob’ Académie is an interdisciplinary academy for transition, applied to sustainable mobility. Its aim is to reconcile the various dimensions (technological, social, legal, economic, environmental, medical, political, fiscal, architectural, etc.) to meet the challenge of sustainable mobility: mobility of people (individual or collective), transport of goods (logistics) in a multimodal approach. Its courses will be delivered face-to-face and remotely, in French and English.
The OrbiMob’ Académie takes a systemic approach, involving a wide range of academic, economic, and political partners. It aims to have a regional, national, and international impact. The multi-disciplinary content offered as part of this academy will help you to understand the complex issues involved in the transition of our mobility systems and thus facilitate the implementation of solutions that work…
WHICH ORGANISATIONS ARE TAKING PART IN THIS INTERDISCIPLINARY ACADEMY PROJECT?
The University of Clermont Auvergne, which is leading the project, has entrusted Clermont Auvergne INP (which groups together 3 engineering schools: ISIMA, SIGMA Clermont and Polytech Clermont) with the task of steering the project on behalf of the consortium. Other academic partners include ESC Clermont Business School, École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Clermont-Ferrand and Hall 32. Other participants in the consortium include the CHU (The University Hospital for the medical dimension), the Campus des Métiers et Qualifications Auto’Mobilités, the French Ministry of Education Office, the OrbiMob’ Association, international organizations such as the International Energy Agency, and partner companies.
AT THIS STAGE, WHICH COMPANIES ARE INVOLVED IN ORBIMOB’ ACADÉMIE?
The project is sponsored by many companies, including GCK, Hympulsion, Ingerop, Renault, BNP Paribas Personal Finance, SNCF, and many others, notably through the involvement of experts in the teaching modules to encourage the acquisition of skills and prepare students for professions of the future. Finally, the academy project is also sponsored by Clermont Auvergne Métropole and the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes Region.
WHAT IS THE AIM OF THIS FIRST SERIES OF CONFERENCES ORGANISED AT THE ESC CLERMONT-BUSINESS SCHOOL AND SIGMA CLERMONT?
With this first major event, we are aiming to achieve two objectives: to promote understanding and to encourage action. In addition to the conferences, which will be led by experts from different sectors and professions, the program includes an educational game that encourages the acquisition of skills through experimentation!
Team coordination, decision-making, social impact for all, ethical dilemmas, inclusion, strategy, organizational responsibility… at the end of these two days, students will have understood what’s at stake, and will leave with concrete ideas for ways of dealing with the challenges of today and tomorrow!
